Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shatters Record, Becomes Fastest Cricketer To Achieve Massive Feat In Youth ODIs

India's budding cricketing sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, etched his name into the record books with a blistering century in the fourth youth ODI against England U19 on Saturday (July 5).

The 14-year-old prodigy achieved the remarkable feat at New Road in Worcester, becoming the fastest player in youth ODI history to score a century.

Opening the innings for India U19 in a high-stakes contest, Suryavanshi displayed a sensational blend of timing, aggression, and composure. He reached the three-figure mark in just 52 balls, hammering 10 boundaries and clearing the rope seven times. His milestone came with a single off the fourth delivery of the 19th over, bowled by England spinner Ralphie Albert.

Suryavanshi was off to a flyer, bringing up his fifty in only 24 balls before taking another 28 to reach his maiden youth ODI hundred. The innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, underlining his immense promise at a very young age.

The previous record for the fastest century in youth ODIs was held by Pakistan's Qasim Akram, who had scored a 63-ball hundred against Sri Lanka U19 on February 3, 2022. For India, the record was earlier in the name of Raj Angad Bawa, who reached his century in 69 balls against Uganda during the 2022 U19 World Cup.

Hailing from Bihar and currently part of the Rajasthan Royals setup in the IPL, Suryavanshi has been in red-hot form throughout the series. His exploits began with a 48-run blitz from just 19 balls in the series opener, followed by 45 off 34 in the second game. In the third ODI at Northampton on July 2, he exploded with an unbeaten 86 off 31 balls, smashing six fours and nine sixes.

With each performance, Suryavanshi is building a formidable reputation, and his record-breaking century is the clearest sign yet that Indian cricket may have unearthed its next big star in the making.
