India vs England U19 World Cup Final - How It Happened

India U19 unleashed a breathtaking batting onslaught in the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final against England at Bloemfontein, posting a colossal 411-9 in 50 overs.

Opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show with a sensational 175 off 80 balls, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 218.75, laying the foundation for India's dominance. The youngster scored the fastest century in the history of a U19 World Cup final in just 55 balls, and was the main instigator in India's massive total.

Captain Ayush Mhatre anchored with a composed 53 (51b, 7x4, 2x6), while Vihaan Malhotra (30) and Abhigyan Kundu (40) accelerated the middle order. Kanishk Chouhan's unbeaten 37 off 20 (3x4, 1x6) provided late fireworks.

England's bowlers toiled hard as James Minto (3-63) and Sebastian Morgan (2-74) were the pick of the bowlers, but almost all of them went for plenty of runs in the final.

In the mammoth run chase, England started slowly with two maidens in the first two overs. Ambrish got Joseph Moores on 17 as England lost their first wicket early, but Ben Dawkins and Ben Mayes started decently for England. Khilan Patel sent Mayes packing on 45. The English captain Thomas Rew played a decent knock of 31 off just 18 balls, but Kanishk Chouhan got the skipper to put them under pressure.

But it was Ayush Mhatre, whose breakthrough opened the door for India and broke England's back. Mhatre took the crucial wicket of Ben Dawkins, and soon after, England fell like a house of cards. From 174 for 3, they lost four wickets in just 8 deliveries, thus reduced to 177 for 7.

But Caleb Falconer and James Minto stitched a desperate partnership for England, adding 92 runs in the eight wicket. Falconer played a valiant knock of 115 runs in 67 balls, but England was bundled out for 311 runs. Ambrish was the pick of the bowlers for India with three wickets (3/56), while Kaniskh Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran got a couple of wickets each.
