Jeffrey Vandersay's exceptional performance led Sri Lanka to a 32-run victory over India in Colombo, giving them the lead in the ODI series. Vandersay's six-wicket haul, his best international figures at 6-33, dismantled India's batting lineup as they fell to 208 all out.
India initially restricted Sri Lanka to a modest 240-9, with Washington Sundar taking 3-30. Avishka Fernando and Kamindu Mendis both contributed 40 runs each. However, India's strong start in their innings quickly faltered due to Vandersay's impressive leg-spin.

Rohit Sharma scored a quick 64 off 44 balls, propelling India to 97 without loss. But his dismissal while attempting a reverse sweep against Vandersay marked the beginning of India's collapse. The spinner then removed Shubman Gill and Shivam Dube in the same over.
Vandersay continued his dominance by trapping Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer LBW, completing his first ODI five-wicket haul. KL Rahul's departure left India at a precarious 147-6. Axar Patel showed some resistance with a score of 44 but was eventually dismissed by Charith Asalanka.
Asalanka also took the wickets of Sundar and Mohammed Siraj, further weakening India's position. Arshdeep Singh was run out, sealing Sri Lanka's control ahead of the final match on Wednesday.
This match marked a significant achievement for Vandersay, who had previously taken only 27 wickets in 20 ODI innings. His previous best was 4-10 against Zimbabwe, making this six-wicket haul particularly memorable as it included dismissals of Indian cricket legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
"What a sensational victory for the Lions! Our bowlers, led by the incredible Jeffrey Vandersay, roared back to dismiss India for 208. We take the lead in the ODI series 1-0. The fight is on!" tweeted Sri Lanka Cricket.
The final clash promises to be an exciting contest as both teams vie for supremacy in the series.
