India women's batter Veda Krishnamurthy officially announced her retirement from international and professional cricket on July 25, 2025, at the age of 32.
The Karnataka cricketer, known for her powerful hitting and fighting spirit, took to social media to bid farewell to her playing career with an emotional message expressing gratitude to her family, coaches, teammates, and fans.

Veda's cricketing journey spanned over 13 years during which she represented India in 48 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 76 T20 Internationals (T20Is), scoring 829 and 875 runs respectively. She played 124 international matches overall and was a key member of India's squads that finished runners-up in the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup and the 2020 Women's T20 World Cup. Her ODI debut came in 2011 against England, where she impressed on the big stage with a half-century, and she last appeared for India in a T20I against Australia in 2020. Veda's last competitive game was for Gujarat Giants in the Women's Premier League 2024 season.
Beyond the numbers, Veda's journey is marked by resilience as she endured the loss of her mother and sister during the Covid-19 pandemic but continued to contribute to Indian cricket with passion. Married to former Karnataka cricketer Arjun Hoysala, she remains committed to cricket and announced her intention to stay connected to the game in other roles, such as commentary or mentoring.
In her retirement statement, Veda said, "From a small-town girl with big dreams to wearing the India jersey with pride. Cricket gave me everything - the lessons, the people, the memories. It's time to say goodbye to playing, but not to the game. Always for India. Always for the team."
