Rare Bengaluru Hailstorm Brings Out Cricket Legend's Inner Child, Video Goes Viral

Former India cricketer and KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad turned into a child at heart as he shared a joyful video of himself dancing in a sudden hailstorm that swept across Bengaluru on April 29.

Taking to social media, Prasad posted a clip showing himself stepping out onto the road during the hailstorm, happily dancing in the rain as hailstones fell around him. In the video, he could be seen picking up hailstones from the ground and eating them, clearly enjoying the rare weather moment and the much-needed break from the heat.

Bengaluru Hailstorm

The video quickly caught attention online. The light-hearted moment resonated with many residents across the city who welcomed the sudden weather change after days of intense heat.

Bengaluru witnessed a sharp shift in weather conditions as heavy rain and hail lashed several parts of the city, briefly turning sections white with ice pellets. Areas including roads, parks and open grounds were covered with a visible layer of hail - an uncommon sight in the city.

The unexpected hailstorm arrived amid a prolonged spell of above-normal temperatures across Karnataka. Bengaluru had recently recorded temperatures above seasonal averages, leaving residents struggling with uncomfortable heat through April.

According to meteorological officials, the hailstorm is part of pre-monsoon activity triggered by rising temperatures and atmospheric instability. Such systems often bring sudden but short-lived spells of rain, gusty winds and occasional hail.

While the storm caused surprise across the city, it also created moments of joy - none more memorable than Venkatesh Prasad dancing in the rain and savoring hailstones, perfectly capturing the relief Bengaluru residents felt after days of relentless heat.
