In a landmark achievement for domestic cricket, Vidarbha lifted their first-ever Vijay Hazare Trophy on January 18, 2026, defeating Saurashtra by 38 runs in a gripping final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Atharva Taide starred with a scintillating century and then Yash Thakur starred with the ball as Vidarbha secured their first domestic title of the season.

Batting first after winning the toss, Vidarbha posted a formidable 317/8 in 50 overs. Opener Atharva Taide anchored the innings with a brilliant 128 off 109 balls (12 fours, 3 sixes), setting the tone with an 80-run opening stand alongside Aman Mokhade (33). Yash Rathod contributed a fluent 54, while Ravikumar Samarth (25) and Karun Nair (18) provided support. Late cameos from Akshay Wakhare (28*) and Yash Thakur (15*) boosted the total. Saurashtra's Ankur Panwar starred with the ball, claiming 4/65.

Chasing 318, Saurashtra started strongly but faltered under pressure. Prerak Mankad top-scored with 88, forming key partnerships with Harvik Desai (42) and Vishvaraj Jadeja (35). However, Vidarbha's bowlers struck at crucial junctures: Yash Thakur led the charge with 4/50, while Nachiket Bhute claimed 3/46, dismantling the middle order. Saurashtra were bundled out for 279 in 49.5 overs, sealing Vidarbha's historic triumph.
