Virat Kohli and Danielle Wyatt: The Unseen Bond Between England Star and Indian Cricket Icon

In 2014, English cricketer Danielle Wyatt garnered significant attention when she publicly expressed her admiration for Indian cricket star Virat Kohli. Following Kohli's impressive performance against South Africa in the T20 World Cup, Wyatt took to Twitter with a lighthearted proposal, stating, "Kohli marry me!".

This tweet quickly went viral, especially among Indian cricket enthusiasts, leading to a surge of media coverage and social media interactions.

Later that year, during India's tour of England, Wyatt and Kohli met in person at Derby. In a gesture of goodwill, Kohli gifted Wyatt one of his cricket bats. Reflecting on the encounter, Wyatt mentioned the overwhelming response her tweet received, noting, "Ten minutes later, I picked my phone up and I've got thousands of favourites and retweets; it's all over Indian news."

Despite the playful nature of her proposal, Wyatt clarified that it was made in jest. In subsequent years, she continued to build her cricketing career and personal life. In August 2024, Wyatt married her long-term partner, Georgie Hodge, in a ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London. Sharing the joyous occasion on social media, she posted, "22.08.24 Mrs & Mrs Wyatt-Hodge."

Wyatt's initial tweet about Kohli remains a memorable moment in cricketing circles, highlighting the camaraderie and mutual respect among players across international boundaries. Her journey from that light-hearted proposal to her marriage to Hodge underscores the evolution of her personal and professional life over the past decade.

As of now, Kohli is busy with his international duty for India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. He led his team to a win over Pakistan by scoring his 51st ODI ton in India's last match. The Men in Blue after two back-to-back wins in the group phase have booked their place in the semis.

While, Wyatt on the other hand was last seen in action for England during the Women's Ashes Series.
