India's senior players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have faced increased scrutiny due to their recent struggles with the bat. Their dip in form has been a contributing factor in India's exit from the World Test Championship, sparking debates over whether it might be time for the duo to consider stepping aside.
Speaking to the media during a press conference hosted by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) at the Delhi Golf Club, Kapil expressed his faith in their ability to make timely and appropriate decisions about their careers.

"They are very big players. Let's hope when they think it's the right time to play, when they think it's not, they will call it off," said Kapil as quoted by PTI.
There were reports indicating that the skipper had considered retiring from Test cricket after the Boxing Day Test, but his well-wishers persuaded him to settle for being left out of the fifth Test in Sydney instead.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, featured in all five matches of the series. He began with an impressive century in Perth, hinting at having addressed his struggles outside the off-stump. However, his form quickly dipped, managing only 90 runs across the remaining four Tests.
Further reports have also emerged that Rohit will be calling time on his international career after the end of the Champions Trophy tournament in March.
Team India's next major challenge is a five-match T20I series against England, followed by a three-match ODI series against the same opponents. After the ODIs, the focus will shift to the 2025 Champions Trophy, set to take place in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
India, placed in Group A, will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. The group also features Pakistan and New Zealand. The squad for the eight-team tournament is yet to be finalized, with an official announcement expected around January 18 or 19.
