IPL 2023: Virat Kohli became the first player to score 7000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He achieved the feat during his side Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
Kohli played a 55-run knock off 46 balls at his home ground which also has a pavilion named after him. Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, his brother, sister and their families were also at the venue as he created a flurry of other records.

The RCB star became the only batter to complete 1000 runs against Delhi. He took 27 innings to achieve the feat. The 34-year-old has scored at an average of 51.50 and a strike rate of 133.76. He has 10 fifties against the opposition - the only Indian batter to achieve the feat against a single team in the IPL.
His tenth fifty against Delhi Capitals also helped him become the only Indian player to smash fifty fifties in the IPL. Delhi Capitals captain David Warner leads the chart with 59 fifties, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan has 49 IPL fifties to his name.
Further, Kohli also brought up his 400 runs in the ongoing season. He is now tied with Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan with most 400-plus totals in the IPL. Each of the three players have achieved the feat nine times.
Kohli is fourth on the list of highest run-scorers in the IPL 2023. He has scored 419 runs at an average of 46.55 and a strike rate of 135.16. He has six fifties to his name - most by any player in the ongoing season.
Overall, he has scored 7043 runs in 233 matches (225 innings) at an average of 36.68 and a strike rate of 129.49.Apart from 50 fifties, Kohli has also hit five IPL hundreds.
