Virat Kohli confirms unavailability for entire IND vs ENG Test series, injured Shreyas Iyer also ruled

Virat Kohli has informed the selectors that he would be unavailable for the last three Test matches against England after missing the first two matches due to personal reasons. The star batter was first expected to miss the third Test in Rajkot, and feature at least in the last two games.

A report in The Indian Express has said that Kohli informed selectors of his decision on Friday. The selectors held an online meeting on the same day to decide the Indian squad for the third, fourth and fifth Test matches in Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala respectively.

Further, the newspaper confirmed that Shreyas Iyer would sit out of the remaining three Tests. Iyer felt discomfort in his back and groin while playing forward defence in the second Test match which India won to level the series 1-1 in Vizag. Iyer would soon head to NCA for rehabilitation.

Bengal pacer Akash Deep did well in India A's unofficial Test series against England Lions, and he is set to get in the team at the cost of Avesh Khan who was part of the squad for first two Tests but released to play Ranji Trophy matches for Madhya Pradesh. Bihar-born pacer Akash picked 11 wickets in two unofficial Test matches against England Lions.

Also, Ravindra Jadeja (hamstring injury) and KL Rahul (quadriceps pain) are set to make their comeback in the third Test which starts from February. The duo are at the NCA after missing the second Test due to their respective injuries.
