Virat Kohli Creates History, Breaks Multiple Records in RCB's Stunning Chase Against LSG

In a high-stakes clash against Lucknow Super Giants, Virat Kohli once again proved why he remains the heartbeat of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Not only did he craft a crucial half-century under pressure, but he also shattered multiple records, further cementing his legacy as the most prolific batter in IPL history.

Kohli's elegant 54-run knock at the Ekana Stadium was more than just a contribution to RCB's successful 228-run chase - it was a record-breaking statement. With this innings, Kohli became the first cricketer in T20 franchise history to cross 9,000 runs for a single team, a monumental achievement that speaks volumes about his loyalty, endurance, and unmatched skill.

No other player has breached even the 6,100-run mark with one franchise; the next best being Rohit Sharma with 6,060 runs for Mumbai Indians.

That's not all. The 2025 season has also seen Kohli become the first-ever player to score over 600 runs in five separate IPL editions - in 2013, 2016, 2023, 2024, and now 2025. This level of consistency across more than a decade places him in a league of his own, surpassing stalwarts like KL Rahul (4 times), Chris Gayle and David Warner (3 times each).

Coming in to chase a daunting 228 set by LSG, Kohli got off the blocks quickly, combining with Phil Salt to give RCB a brisk start. Despite a brief middle-order wobble, Kohli stood firm, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries to ease the scoreboard pressure. His third consecutive 50+ score this season reflected not just his form, but also his resolve in pressure scenarios.

Kohli's brilliance was part of a larger team effort. Jitesh Sharma's unbeaten 85* and Mayank Agarwal's calm 41* guided RCB home with six wickets in hand and helped them finish second in the league standings.

As RCB heads into Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings, Kohli's records have added momentum to their campaign. For the fans and the franchise, he continues to be the cornerstone of RCB's pursuit of their elusive maiden title.
