'Virat Kohli Doesn't Need Ranji', Ex India Cricketer Makes Big Claim, Advices To 'Leave Him Alone'

By MyKhel Staff

Following a challenging stint in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where Virat Kohli managed just 190 runs across five matches-his second-lowest aggregate in the series-the Indian batting stalwart has turned to domestic cricket to rediscover his rhythm.

However, not everyone believes this move is necessary. Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu has openly voiced his opinion, suggesting that Kohli doesn't need domestic cricket to regain his form.

Rayudu took to social media to express his thoughts, emphasizing that Kohli's proven technique and experience speak for themselves. "Right now, Virat Kohli doesn't need Ranji. His technique was good for 81 hundreds and it will be good going forward as well," he wrote on X. "No one should force him into forcing himself for anything. He needs time to feel good about everything again. The spark within will ignite on its own. Basically, respect and believe in him. Most importantly, leave him alone."

Despite Rayudu's firm belief, Kohli chose to feature for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy after a 12-year hiatus from domestic cricket. His return transformed an otherwise routine Ranji match into a spectacle, with fans flooding the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, eager to catch a glimpse of the maestro in action.

However, the match didn't unfold as fans had hoped. Virat, batting at No. 4, was dismissed for just six runs off 15 balls. The man responsible for his rare failure was Himanshu Sangwan, a 29-year-old pacer who delivered a searing ball that breached 37-year-old'd defense and sent his stumps cartwheeling. Sangwan's breakthrough moment not only stunned the crowd but also highlighted the unpredictable nature of domestic cricket.

Kohli's decision to return to the domestic circuit indicates his determination to overcome his struggles in Test cricket. However, his recent performances have fueled debates on whether such stints genuinely help seasoned players regain form. While Rayudu believes the Indian star simply needs time and self-belief, others argue that the grind of domestic cricket could serve as the perfect platform to rediscover his touch.

As discussions continue, one thing remains certain: Kohli's resilience and hunger for runs have been key pillars of his illustrious career. Whether through domestic cricket or sheer mental fortitude, fans across the globe eagerly await his next masterclass.
