He is also the first batsman in history to notch up 4 double hundreds in 4 successive series (West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh).

Kohli is now in the company of former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar and others in 4-double tons' group. There are 10 batsmen to have achieved the feat.

Among Indian batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag hold the joint record for most double centuries in Test cricket. The duo hit 6 each during their illustrious careers. The next best Indian is Rahul Dravid with 5.

Kohli's first double ton (200) in Tests came against West Indies in North South in July 2016. He followed that up with another 2 doubles (211 Vs New Zealand, 235 Vs England) in the same year.

In December 2016, Kohli scored a career best 235 against England at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium to become the first Indian skipper to register 3 double hundreds.

The 28-year-old Kohli made his Test debut against West Indies in 2011. He averages over 50 with 16 centuries and 14 fifties. He is playing in his 54th Test.
