Bengaluru, February 7: His aggressive on field persona notwithstanding, India skipper Virat Kohli is known to maintain friendships with fellow cricketers off the field. Equally impressive has been Kohli's commitment to some social causes.
In the latest instance, Kohli on Wednesday (February 7) endorsed Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar's new venture in Lahore - Dar's Delighto, a restaurant.
Dar wants to use the earnings from the restaurant to build a school for deaf children.
In a video message, Kohli said: ""Hello Aleem Bhai, I have heard that you have opened a new restaurant--Dar's Delighto-many congratulations on that. I wish that your restaurant becomes just as successful as you are an umpire.
"I have also heard that you want to make a school for deaf children through the earnings of this restaurant so I hope that you accomplish that. I encourage everyone to go and try his restaurant," said Kohli.
Cricket fans from both India and Pakistan lauded Kohli to step in for Dar through Facebook and Twitter.
Dar is one of the most respected umpires in the circuit, having won the ICC Best Umpire award three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011.
