Sunil Gavaskar has made another piece of headline-making statement regarding Virat Kohli.
Gavaskar, who recently had a war of words with Virat Kohli recently, has now credited an Indian legend for helping out Kohli during his early days.

Virat Kohli's RCB is going to play their final IPL 2024 group stage match against CSK on Saturday. The match is of monumental importance as the winning team will potentially head to the playoffs.
Ahead of that, Gavaskar has credited CSK stalwart MS Dhoni for aiding Virat Kohli in the latter's early days as an India player.
Gavaskar said that Kohli had a stuttering start to his India career and it was only Dhoni's backing and trust in Kohli which made him an accomplished player such as he is today.
"When Kohli started his career, it was a stop-start career. The fact that MS Dhoni gave him that little extra momentum is why he is the Kohli we see today," Gavaskar said during an interaction.
To Gavaskar's defence, Kohli has had Dhoni beside him during his tough times. The veteran CSK supremo has always lent his helping hand to Kohli.
Recently, the former India batter took a dig at Kohli's strike rate in the T20Is and got involved in a war of words with the RCB star. This fresh comment is being seen as another jibe at Kohli ahead of the crucial match against CSK.
Kohli has been in amazing form in this IPL this season. The RCB star has already amassed 661 runs and is the current highest run-scorer in the IPL 2024. The 35-year-old will also play a key part in India's hopes for glory in the T20 World Cup.
