A casual remark from former England cricketer Jonathan Trott has triggered a wave of curiosity about Virat Kohli's current base in London. During a broadcast discussion following India's dominant win at Edgbaston, Trott suggested that the Indian cricket icon might be living near the historic Lord's Cricket Ground.
"Doesn't he live in St. John's Wood or nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back?" Trott remarked on Sony Sports, fuelling speculation about Kohli's proximity to one of cricket's most iconic venues.

St. John's Wood, known for its affluent charm, leafy avenues, and closeness to Regent's Park, is also the home of Lord's. Trott's comment came in response to Kohli's viral social media post on July 6, congratulating Team India for ending their winless streak at Edgbaston.
Interestingly, previous reports, notably in The Telegraph, had pegged Notting Hill as Kohli's London residence. Just under three miles from St. John's Wood, the two neighborhoods are a short drive apart - making Trott's claim plausible and stirring intrigue online.
"Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game," Trott added, touching on the emotional connection many players feel post-retirement.
The conversation didn't just revolve around Kohli. Trott also heaped praise on India's young Test captain Shubman Gill, who delivered a remarkable performance at Edgbaston with scores of 269 and 161 - the second-highest run aggregate in a single Test match, only behind Graham Gooch's 456.
"Today, he showed how complete a batter he is. It reminded me of the previous Indian number four, almost a carbon copy of that genius... I honestly feel privileged to be here and witness that innings," Trott said on JioHotstar, lauding Gill's poise and skill.
As Kohli enjoys his time in London, fans are left wondering if the former India skipper is indeed living near Lord's - and whether a comeback might ever cross his mind.
