Amid the ongoing saga regarding India's squad and captaincy options, both of India's senior stalwarts have confirmed their commitment for the ODI series. Rohit Sharma, India's ODI captain is set to be part of the ODI squad after confirming his availability.

And now according to a report from Indian Express, Virat Kohli has also told BCCI that he will be taking part in the ODIs in Sri Lanka. Kohli is currently in London spending time with his family, but will cut short his leisure time for national duty.

Virat Kohli marks himself available for Gautam Gambhir

Virat Kohli was set to be handed an extended break ahead of the Sri Lanka series, but he has made himself available. The sole reason behind Kohli's decision is the new head coach Gautam Gambhir. As Gambhir takes charge in Sri Lanka, the new coach requested the senior players to be a part of the squad, and both Rohit and Virat have listened to it.

Rohit Sharma is also set to lead the Indian team in the ODI format. Apart from that, team India may also welcome back Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in the 50-over side. Despite a brief setback, Iyer has rallied back in the running after leading Kolkata Knight Riders to an IPL winning season. Rahul was also the obvious captaincy choice in Rohit Sharma's absence.

Also, there is a chance that Suryakumar Yadav may be appointed as India's T20 captain. Hardik Pandya has lost the race as the team management has concern over his fitness. The selectors are happy to go with Surya and it is to be seen if he is the T20 leader till the 2026 T20 World Cup.
