Virat Kohli named in Delhi Squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rishabh Pant appointed Captain

India stalwart Virat Kohli has confirmed his availability for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, marking his return to List A cricket for Delhi after a 15-year hiatus.

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the squad today, with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant appointed as captain and Ayush Badoni as vice-captain.

Veteran pacers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini have also made themselves available, adding significant experience to the bowling attack. The inclusion of Kohli and Pant headlines a strong Delhi lineup as they aim for a deep run in India's premier domestic 50-over tournament, which commences on December 24 in Bengaluru.

Kohli, fresh off a stellar performance in the recent ODI series against South Africa, last played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2009-10 season. His participation is expected to draw massive attention to the competition, especially with Delhi's league matches scheduled across venues in Bengaluru. Virat was in action for India in the recent ODI series against South Africa, where he fared brilliantly for the team.

The DDCA stated that Kohli, Pant, Ishant, and Saini will be part of the team, with fast bowler Harshit Rana set to join later upon release from national duties.
