Virat Kohli no more part of 'Fab 4', it's 'Fab 3' now: Aakash Chopra ahead of IND vs WI Test series

Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has reckoned that former India captain Virat Kohli no longer features in the Fab 4 list of Test batters. The former opener said that the 'Fab 4' ceases to exist and it's the 'Fab 3' now.

The comments from Aakash Chopra come ahead of the start of India's 2-match Test series against West Indies. The first Test will kick off from July 12 in Dominica.

Chopra has pointed out at the dismal Test numbers of Kohli over the last few years in Test cricket. He also said that David Warner also used to feature in the list of top Test batters but his name has also weathered away.

“Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson were a sure shot 'Fab Four' at one point. In fact, even David Warner's name was present in that list. We are talking about Test cricket. We are talking about the period between 2014 and 2019. But we don't have a 'Fab Four' now, only a 'Fab Three',” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Virat Kohli's numbers have plummeted. He has played 25 matches - 1277 runs, which does not suit him. He has an average of 29.69 and he has scored just one century overall, which came against Australia on the Ahmedabad ground.

“David Warner - 23 matches, 1250 runs, an average of 32.89. He has two centuries in that, including a big one. I feel at this point in time, as things stand now, Warner and Kohli are not part of the 'Fab Four',” Chopra added.

Virat Kohli, the former number one Test batter in the world, is currently ranked 14th in the ICC Test ranking for batters. Warner, who is currently playing in the Ashes 2023, is ranked 26th.

Kane Williamson is the number one ranked batter. Joe Root and Steve Smith are occupying the fifth and second spots respectively.
