Tennis legend Novak Djokovic revealed that he and Indian cricket star Virat Kohli have been in contact for several years, although they've never crossed paths in person-until now.
Kohli made an appearance at the All England Club to watch Djokovic's Round of 16 clash at Wimbledon 2025 on Monday, where the Serbian champion secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Australia's Alex de Minaur.

Speaking to Sony Sports after the win, Djokovic opened up about his admiration for Kohli. "Virat Kohli and I have been texting a little bit for a few years, and we never got the chance to meet in person," he said. "But it was really a privilege and an honor to listen to him speak nicely about me. And I obviously admire all of his career and achievements and everything he has done."
Kohli, known for delivering in high-pressure games like India vs Pakistan World Cup clashes, was seen cheering Djokovic from the stands. He also backed the 24-time Grand Slam champion to lift the Wimbledon trophy this year.
Djokovic, currently chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, is also eyeing an eighth Wimbledon crown-an achievement that would bring him level with Roger Federer's record. Federer, in fact, was in the crowd for Djokovic's latest win, prompting a humorous post-match remark from the 38-year-old: "It's probably the first time he's watching me and I've won the match. The last couple I lost, so good to break the curse."
The camaraderie didn't end there. Djokovic also spoke about dabbling in cricket, albeit with modest success. "I started to play cricket. I'm not very good at it. Obviously cricket being very big in Australia and of course India, let's say that I'll have a task to perfect my cricket skills before I get to India so that I don't embarrass myself when I'm there," he joked.
With mutual respect, admiration, and a growing friendship, the Kohli-Djokovic connection is shaping up to be one of sports' most unexpected but wholesome bro-codes.
