Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma? Two Indians make cut as Mohammad Amir names his three favourite batters

The India and Pakistan cricket rivalry is quite vivid on the field. But off the field, there is nothing but a close and amicable relationship between the players of both countries.

We often witness ex-Pakistani players pouring love and accolades for Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and others. The abundance of personal YouTube channels of many former cricketers also provides the latest exchange of thoughts involving both countries.

And it is the same for former Pakistan pacer Mohammed Amir. In a recent video, the ex-Pakistan bowler picked his favourite batters and bowlers. And among the list of batters, two Indian players made the cut.

The 31-year-old picked up Virat Kohli and Babar Azam as his most favourite duo, and surprisingly picked Shubman Gill as his third choice. Amir's fondness for Kohli is not unknown, but picking Gill over any other players was a bit of a surprise.

"Virat [Kohli], Babar is my favourite apart from T20s. He is my favourite in Tests and ODIs. Finally, Shubman Gill, as I feel he will be the next big thing for India in future, if he maintains his current form," Amir was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel by Cricket Pakistan.

India captain Rohit Sharma didn't make the list though, and neither did the likes of Joe Root, Steve Smith or other present stalwarts.

In terms of the bowlers, none of the Indian players made the cut. Amir reckons Kiwi pacer Trent Boult as his favourite one, whereas Naseem Shah is the Pakistani representative. Australian bowler Mitchell Strac completes the list.

"[Trent] Boult, he is number one for me, then Naseem Shah. These are bowlers, who I feel are complete bowlers and can play all formats. And third would be Mitchell Starc," Amir added.
