Virat Kohli had a spectacular run in the World Cup 2023. The talismanic batter piled up 765 runs in 11 matches and averaged 95.62 at a solid strike rate of 90.31.
The 35-year-old scored a total of three hundreds and six fifties. His third hundred in the semi-final against New Zealand was his record-breaking 50th to break Sachin Tendulkar's record for most hundreds in an ODI World Cup.

Kohli also broke Sachin Tendulkar and Shakib Al Hasan's record for most fifty-plus scores in a single edition of the World Cup. Tendulkar and Shakib registered seven fifty-plus scores in the 2003 and 2019 edition of the World Cup respectively.
The Delhi batter also went past his idol Tendulkar's record of most runs scored in a single World Cup edition. The Master Blaster scored 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup. Now, Kohli's 765 is the highest by any batter in a single World Cup edition.
This is not it, Virat Kohli now also holds the record for most hours batted in a single edition of the World Cup. He went past Sachin Tendulkar and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to own the unique record.
Kohli batted for 19 hours and 56 minutes in the World Cup 2023. Kane Williamson, who held the previous record, batted for 18 hours and 51 minutes, in the 2019 World Cup. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar spent 18 hours and 50 minutes in the middle during the 2003 World Cup.
Virat Kohli failed to lay his hand on the coveted trophy but was named Man of the Series for his consistency in the World Cup 2023. Whether he will feature in the 2027 World Cup is uncertain, but he is almost certain of targeting the ICC Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan in 2025.
