Virat Kohli landed with the rest of the Indian cricket team with the T20 World Cup trophy on Thursday and was cheered by thousands of fans as he boarded the team bus for ITC Maurya Hotel in Delhi. At the team hotel, the 35-year-old star batter had his brother Vikas and sister Bhawna in attendance to cheer for him.
The Delhi-batter top-scored for India in the final of T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa. India were reduced to 34/3 when Kohli took the onus on him and roared back to form with match-winning 76 off 59 balls. The innings helped India post the highest-ever total in a T20 World Cup final.

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20I cricket after winning his maiden T20 World Cup trophy. He will continue to play in the ODI and Test formats.
Virat Kohli and his teammates were stuck in Barbados for four days after winning the title, due to Hurricane Beryl. Once the airport reopened, BCCI arranged a special Air India flight to bring back the team and T20 World Cup trophy home.
The star batter was among the first few batters to board the team bus after landing in India. The team will now rest at the hotel after their 16-hour long journey and then leave for Mumbai where an open bus victory parade has been scheduled from 5:00 PM.
A small ceremony will also be organised at the Wankhede Stadium where BCCI secretary Jay Shah will once again present the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy to Rohit Sharma and his champion team.
