India stalwart Virat Kohli opened up on an emotional evening as the Indian team clinched the Champions Trophy title with a win over New Zealand.
Kohli played his part throughout the tournament, with notable contributions against Pakistan and then in the semifinals against Australia.

The star India batter spoke to Star Sports after the match and expressed his satisfaction of winning the tournament, which came after a long gap of 12 years.
"It's been a long time since we've had a Champions Trophy, and the format is really good. This was our aim. After a tough tour of Australia, we came here and won a big tournament, which has once again boosted our confidence as a team. Throughout the tournament, different players stepped up in different matches," Kohli said.
India have been guilty of not crossing the final frontier in past tournaments, but Kohli is happy that the team management kept faith in players who have started to deliver trophies. After the 2024 T20 World Cup, this was India's second ICC title within a span of nine months. After the World Cup 2023 final defeat, India has now won two consecutive ICC tournaments, which has happened for the first time in history.
"There were moments in past tournaments where we weren't able to finish games or capitalize on crucial situations. But this time, we learned from those experiences. That's why you back experienced players - they have faced these moments before, and when you apply those learnings and work hard, you get a chance to turn things around," he added.
"Despite all the challenges, this is why you play the game, for these big tournaments. Winning four ICC titles is truly a blessing, and I consider myself very lucky to have played for so long and achieved this," Kohli concluded.
The India stalwart is now set to feature in the IPL 2025 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which starts on March 22. Kohli's RCB will play the opening match against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata.
