Virat Kohli: Rohit Sharma and I Hugged and Cried After Winning T20 World Cup... Special Moment for Me

By MyKhel Staff

India's star batsman Virat Kohli recently shared a poignant memory from the T20 World Cup final that will stay with him forever. Shortly after the winning moment, Rohit Sharma was caught on camera hugging Virat Kohli as he walked back to the pavilion.

Fans were thrilled to see the two share this moment, especially since they both retired soon after. "Rohit and I, we've been trying this for so long. We always wanted to win a World Cup," said Kohli at the Wankhede Stadium following the Team India Victory Parade in Mumbai.

"Bringing the trophy back to Wankhede is a very special feeling... When I was walking up the stairs, I was crying. Rohit was crying. I will never forget that moment." Kohli revealed during his victory speech, describing the emotional hug he shared with a teary-eyed Rohit Sharma after clinching the title against South Africa on June 29.

As Team India arrived at Wankhede Stadium for their special felicitation ceremony, Kohli took a moment to acknowledge the collective efforts that led to their long-awaited T20 World Cup triumph. The victory, marked by intense dedication and teamwork, had an emotional crescendo that saw Kohli and Sharma, two pillars of Indian cricket, share a rare moment of raw emotion.

"This was the first time in my 15-year career that I saw Rohit so emotional," Kohli reflected. The significance of the win was immense for both players, who had dreamed of this moment for years. Their journey together through highs and lows culminated in a victory that was as much a personal triumph as it was a professional one.

Team India's arrival from Barbados was delayed due to a hurricane alert, but the subsequent celebrations were nothing short of grand. On July 5, the Rohit Sharma-led squad embarked on a day-long celebration spree across New Delhi and Mumbai. The open-top bus parade at Marine Drive was a testament to the nation's elation, with thousands of fans cheering their heroes.

At the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli was greeted with thunderous applause from the huge crowd. In his address, he highlighted the significance of the win and the unwavering determination shared by him and Rohit to bring the T20 World Cup trophy home.
