Virat Kohli snubs Rohit Sharma or Sachin Tendulkar, picks his RCB Teammate Instead as Ultimate T20 Opener

Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli recently made headlines with a surprising choice. During a fun social media video, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter was asked to name the best T20 opening batter.

To the surprise of many fans, Kohli chose West Indies legend Chris Gayle over Indian greats like Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar!

In the video, Kohli had to pick between several famous Indian and international cricketers, both from the past and present. When he was asked to choose between Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, Kohli first made sure the question was only about T20 cricket. Once confirmed, he picked the explosive Virender Sehwag.

Later, it came down to a tough choice between his long-time India teammate Rohit Sharma and his former RCB teammate Chris Gayle. Once again, keeping the T20 format in mind, Kohli confidently selected the "Universe Boss," Chris Gayle, as his top pick.

Meanwhile, Kohli is already working hard for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Videos of the 37-year-old batting in the practice nets have gone viral on Instagram. Fans are super excited to see him back in action as the tournament prepares to kick off on March 28.

Kohli has an unbelievable record in the IPL. He has scored a massive 8,661 runs in 267 matches, making him the highest run-scorer in the tournament's history. He also holds the record for hitting eight centuries!

Last year, during the 2025 season, Kohli was in phenomenal form. He smashed 657 runs in 15 matches, playing a huge role in helping RCB win their very first IPL trophy by defeating the Punjab Kings in a thrilling final. As the defending champions, all eyes will once again be on Virat Kohli and RCB to see if they can lift the trophy for a second time.
