Virat Kohli 'sure' to 'catch up' with old friend during Caribbean Tour

India's batting supremo Virat Kohli says he will be meeting an old friend during the Caribbean series.

The Indian team is currently in West Indies for an all-format series. Team India will play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. The first Test starts in Dominica on July 12 and the second Test will be played in Trinand and Tobago.

Virat Kohli Chris Gayle

Virat Kohli is going to play a pivotal role for the visitors in the series as India aim to bounce back after a poor outing in the WTC 2023 Final.

And ahead of the Test series, Kohli says that he is looking forward to meeting Chris Gayle if a chance arrives. Gayle, who was a long-time teammate of Kohli with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

And the Indian batter confirmed he may chill out with the Universe boss if they are in Jamaica.

"Well Chris, I have hung out with him for so many years. I am sure that when we are in Jamaica, we will definitely go and meet Chris. He always invites the team home to have a good time and just chill out," Kohli said to Star Sports.

"So I am sure he is going to do the same again if he is in town. Everyone loves him. We went last time as well to his place, we had a great time and he is such a humble guy. Definitely, if he is free and he is in town, sure we are going to catch up with him," he added.

Kohli gayle

The 34-year-old is seeking a good outing in West Indies this time around. Kohli's record in the Caribbean doesn't bode well, with just 463 runs in 13 innings.

The last time around in 2019, the Indian batter scored 136 runs in the two-match Test series. India's quest for an ICC trophy continued with the WTC Final 2023 defeat, but Rohit Sharma and his troops are aiming to start the new WTC cycle on a high note.
