Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Team India stalwart Virat Kohli on Sunday (April 27) moved above two Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stars in the unwanted list of batters involved in most run outs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since it's inception in 2008.
Kohli achieved the undesirable feat during RCB's IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, where the star batter was unfortunately involved in another run out, sending skipper Rajat Patidar back into the dug out.

Having earlier been invovled in a mix up with Phil Salt in the reverse fixture, Kohli had another miscommunication at his home ground, when he sent back skipper Patidar and Karun Nair executed a direct hit from mid off. However, the dismissal did not count for much as RCB went from 26/3 to seal a 6 wicket win.
With the latest run out dismissal, Kohli surpassed CSK legend Suresh Raina for most run out involvements and also went past another former CSK and RCB player Robin Uthappa for leaving their partners high and dry.
Kohli's former teammate and the current RCB mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik tops the list of this unwanted record with the top 5 also featuring Indian veterans in Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Here is a look at the players with most IPL run out involvements:
On the bright side, Kohli also equalled another CSK seasoned campaigners record for most run out executed as an outfield player in the IPL, having played a key role in the dismissal of Vipraj Nigam in the final over of the DC innings.
