Virat Kohli To Speak With Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid? ODI World Cup Winner Gives Valuable Advice To India Star Ahead Of Champions Trophy

By MyKhel Staff

Virat Kohli's lean patch in international cricket persisted as he was dismissed for just five runs in the second ODI against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Despite high expectations that he would rediscover his rhythm in the 50-over format-one in which he has historically thrived-Kohli fell cheaply, edging an Adil Rashid delivery to the wicketkeeper.

Former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga weighed in on Kohli's dip in form and suggested that the Indian stalwart should seek guidance from legendary cricketers who have faced similar challenges.

"I think what Kohli needs to do is speak to people like Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, or a Rahul Dravid. That's what he can do. They can certainly help him out," Ranatunga told The Telegraph in a brief interaction.

With Kohli struggling to find his best touch, discussions about his future in international cricket have begun surfacing. However, Ranatunga believes that a player of Kohli's stature should be allowed to make his own decisions regarding retirement.

"For a player like Kohli who has scored so many runs, I feel it's best if that's left to him. It's a call that Kohli needs to take, so let him take it. Why always have the spotlight on him? It's quite unnecessary, I feel. It's his decision, so let him take that," the 1996 World Cup-winning captain added.

While Kohli's struggles continued, Indian captain Rohit Sharma provided a contrasting narrative. After enduring a tough phase himself, Rohit roared back to form with a scintillating century-his 32nd in ODIs-steering India to a crucial victory. His knock played a pivotal role in India's four-wicket triumph over England, sealing the series with an unassailable 2-0 lead.

As the focus remains on Kohli's performance in the upcoming matches, fans and experts alike will be eager to see if he can bounce back and silence the vociferous critics.
