New Delhi, July 14: Indian Premier League (IPL) scandal in 2013 shocked the world, especially people in India. Spot fixings, betting, one after another arrest of cricketers and bookies rocked the season.

Now, the scandal once again is back to haunt teams, especially Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). According to reports, the two teams, former champions, might be banned from participating in the tournament in future.

A Supreme Court-appointed panel-led by former chief justice Rajendra Mal Lodha will pronounce its final verdict today (Tuesday, July 14). Sources informed that the panel is more likely to impose heavy penalty on both teams.

Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra, the two officials of CSK and RR respectively, might be tense today. The Supreme Court earlier had found both Meiyappan and Kundra guilty in connection with the IPL 2013 scandal.

The apex court earlier had rejected Meiyappan's claim that he was just an enthusiast and not the team principal. Meiyappan is the son-in-law of tainted International Cricket Council (ICC) chief N Srinivasan.

The three-member panel, which is known as Lodha committee, is scheduled to announce the punishment for Meiyappan, Kundra and their respective teams today.
