Virat Kohli's rude send-off to Rachin Ravindra in CSK vs RCB IPL 2024 opener goes viral

Virat Kohli could not do much with the bat as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost the IPL 2024 opener against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) on Friday, March 22.

Nevertheless, the star cricketer made headlines by giving a rude send-off to IPL and CSK debutant Rachin Ravindra. The New Zealand star had played a key role in Kohli's dismissal during the first innings.

After Kohli played a pull shot on a slower delivery from Mustafizur Rahman, Ajinkya Rahane took a diving catch at deep midwicket, and then threw the ball in the direction of Ravindra before sliding into the boundary ropes. The youngster celebrated the catch by hugging Rahane.

Rachin Ravindra was on fire while opening in the absence of compatriot Devon Conway. He slammed 37 runs off 15 balls in an innings which consisted of three fours and as many sixes. He was trying to hit his fourth maximum when Rajat Patidar caught him at deep backward square leg in the seventh over from Karn Sharma.

Immediately after Patidar completed the catch, a pumped up Kohli pointed repeatedly in the direction of the CSK dressing room, and gave a mouthful to the 24-year-old youngster. Here's the video.

Wouldn't call myself a start yet: Rachin Ravindra

After CSK chased down the 174-run target in 18.4 overs, Rachin Ravindra said he won't call himself a star yet, and praised the seniors in the team.

“I think it was a pretty complete performance by us. Obviously, the wicket was a good one and we sort of held our nerves. It helped having the guys sort of finish the innings and batting with guys like Rahane and Ruturaj, very calm heads. So, allow me to kind of play my game,” Rachin Ravindra said.

“I wouldn't call myself a star just yet. Luckily we had four or five days of good training to get into it and it's just an intent thing as well. I find it easier probably going red ball to white ball because your positions are quite similar and it's just about trying to bring that calming presence, trying to slow the game down. Something that I think this team is very good at doing and such great senior guys in the change room to learn from,” he added.
