Legendary batter Virender Sehwag congratulated his son Aaryavir on the youngster’s monumental innings in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy.
Sehwag, one of India's most explosive batsmen, took to Facebook on Friday, November 22, to cheer his son for his performance. “Well played @aaryavirsehwag”, Sehwag posted on Facebook. “Missed a Ferrari by 23 runs. But well done, keep the fire alive and may you score many more daddy hundreds and doubles and triples. Khel jaao.”

For context, Sehwag’s Ferrari comment was a nod to a promise he made in 2015 that any of his sons surpassing his historic 319-run knock in the Multan Test would be rewarded with the sportscar Ferrari.
While Aaryavir fell short of the elusive 319 mark, his exceptional 297-run innings showcased remarkable potential. The junior Sehwag may not have bagged the sports car this time, but his performance was enough to rekindle memories of his father’s fearless batting style. With an aggressive approach and fearless strokeplay, Aaryavir appears to have inherited the trademark Sehwag flair.
Playing for Delhi U-19, Aaryavir Sehwag smashed an extraordinary 297 off 309 balls against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy. His innings, laced with 51 fours and 3 sixes, had an astounding strike rate of 96.12, reflecting a level of maturity and aggression beyond his years. Opening the innings with Arnav Bugga, who scored a fine 114 off 108 balls, Aaryavir built a formidable foundation for Delhi.
Delhi declared their dominance on Day 2 of the match, ending at 468 for 2 in response to Meghalaya’s 260. Aaryavir was finally dismissed by RS Rathor, falling agonisingly short of a triple century. His teammate Dhanya Nakra complemented his innings with a century of his own (130 runs from 122 balls), ensuring Delhi maintained their stranglehold on the game.
Aaryavir’s spectacular knock is the latest chapter in his promising cricket journey. After an impressive Vinoo Mankad Trophy debut last month, where he guided Delhi to victory with a composed 49 against Manipur, he has further underlined his credentials in the multi-day format.
Virender Sehwag’s legacy casts a long shadow, but Aaryavir’s growing reputation suggests he is carving a name for himself in Indian cricket. The young batter has expressed ambitions of securing an IPL contract, as revealed by his father last year. With performances like these, Aaryavir is not just living up to expectations but building his own legacy.
Though the Ferrari remains parked for now, Aaryavir’s fiery innings is a clear statement: the Sehwag name is here to dominate cricket for another generation.
