In a heartwarming story of hope and inspiration, Rahul Soreng, the son of Pulwama Martyr Shaheed Vijay Soreng, has been selected to represent the Haryana Under-16 cricket team in the prestigious Vijay Merchant Trophy.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in Rahul's journey, one that began with an extraordinary gesture by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.

Rahul Soreng is an Indian cricketer, who will be representing Haryana in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. His father Vijay Soreng passed away at the Pulwama Terrorist attack.
After the tragic Pulwama attack in February 2019, Sehwag made a heartfelt appeal, offering free education and boarding facilities at his Sehwag International School for the children of India's martyrs. Rahul Soreng joined the school later that year, and over the past four years, he has thrived both academically and athletically under the nurturing environment provided by the institution.
Sehwag, expressing his joy at Rahul's selection, shared an emotional note on social media -
"Remember the name - Rahul Soreng. This is one of the happiest feelings in life. Few things give more joy. I feel privileged that the son of a Pulwama martyr who joined our school in 2019 has been selected in the Haryana Under-16 team. Thank you to our great soldiers," Sehwag wrote.
Rahul's story is a testament to resilience and opportunity. His hard work, combined with the support of Sehwag's initiative, has paved the way for him to excel in cricket.
As Rahul takes the field in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, his journey serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of a human being who has defied many adversities. With Sehwag being a guide, Soreng is expected to soar high in coming years.
