London, June 1: West Indies' explosive opener Chris Gayle blasted an unbeaten 151 but still ended up on the losing side as Somerset went down by 3 runs to Kent in a NatWest T20 Blast match yesterday (May 31).
Gayle smashed 15 sixes and 10 fours in his 64-ball 151 not out but the team lost in the final over of the 228-run chase.

Batting first, Kent rode on Sam Northeast's 58-ball 114 (16x4, 2x6) to post a mammoth 227/7 in 20 overs. In reply, Somerset were reduced to 22/2 in 3.3 overs before Gayle's onslaught got them closer.
In the final over with Gayle still in the middle, Somerset needed 17. He was off strike for the first 2 deliveries and no runs came off them. In the last 4, Somerset still required 17 and in final 2 it was 10.
Mitchell Claydon held his nerve to bowl a dot ball and the final delivery of the match was hit for a six by Gayle but it was all over by then.
