Vishy ready to coach Team India
Bangalore, June 7 (UNI) With former test cricketers rooting for an Indian to be appointed as the coach of Team India, Little master Gundappa Vishwanath today expressed his willingness to ''give something back to the game.'' In a chat with newspersons at the KSCA stadium here today, he said, ''Why not, it would be a good opportunity for me to give something back to the game.'' Answering a question, he said there was nothing wrong in having a coach for different disciplines. ''Cricket is not just a game of bowling and batting. It needs high amount of skills and in every section of the game skill needs to be polished thoroughly and continuously.
So, there is nothing wrong in having separate coaches for bowling, batting or fielding,'' he added.
Acknowledged as the most stylish right hand batsman, Vishwanath made his debut in 1969 against Australia at Kanpur. He scored 6080 runs in 91 Test matches before retiring from first class cricket in 1983. ''Vishy'' as he is known, had also played 25 ODIs after making his debut in this format against England in 1974.
