Warney backs Vaughan, advises him to drop down

London, Apr 13 (UNI) While the whole world may be baying for Michael Vaughan's blood, arch-rival and former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne feels the 'best-ever English captain' should drop down the order to keep alive his side's chances of lifting the World Cup.

''Vaughan is England's best captain and he is important to the team because of that. But he averages only 26 with the bat throughout in ODI career. So he needs to drop down the order and not play right at the top where his struggles not helping the team,'' Warne told the Sun.

The 37-year-old Aussie legend also reckons that Vaughan's miserable batting form is jeopardising his team's World Cup chances.

The England skipper has scored only 42 runs in his four innings at the mega event.

Warne, who has tormented the English batting many a times in his 14-year-old cricketing career which ended last December, was of the opinion that Michael Vaugnan's men has potential to raise their game in their coming matches.

''The whole world wants to see England playing good cricket and maybe they can peak in the next few games,'' he said, adding, ''they might sneak into the semis and surprise everyone.'' However, the 32-year-old England skipper has rejected all suggestions about dropping down the batting order or giving up the leadership.
