Wasim Akram’s 1000 AUD Cat Haircut: More Expensive Than a Luxury Vacation?

Money can’t buy happiness, but it sure can buy a cat’s fancy haircut. While this might sound like a line from a comedy sketch, Wasim Akram proved that it could also be a very real scenario, leaving fans and fellow commentators in sheer disbelief. The legendary Pakistani cricketer and now an ever-present voice in the commentary box, recently dropped a bombshell during a live broadcast that had the cricket world in stitches.

While Pakistan's thrilling victory in their historic ODI series against Australia made all the headlines, Wasim’s quirky anecdote about spending a jaw-dropping 1000 Australian dollars for his cat’s grooming session turned out to be the real showstopper. The tale, which started off as a casual mention, quickly spiraled into a viral sensation.

Wasim Akram

“I had a cat haircut yesterday. I have to pay 1000 Australian dollars for the cat’s haircut. They have to sedate the cat, keep the cat, and feed the cat. I said, about 200 cats in Pakistan could get a haircut for this money!" Akram said, cracking up his fellow commentators.

But wait—this wasn’t just a simple grooming session. Wasim, ever the showman, whipped out the invoice to prove his point. The breakdown was as follows: 105 AUD (₹5,000) for a medical check-up, 305 AUD (₹15,000) for anaesthesia to sedate the cat, 40 AUD (₹2,000) for the haircut itself, and an additional 120 AUD (₹6,600) for aftercare. And of course, because we’re talking about a pampered feline, a cardio test (yes, for a cat!) was also part of the package, costing 251 AUD (₹13,800).

In total, this luxury cat spa day amounted to an eye-watering 1000 AUD (₹55,000).

What Else Can You Buy From This Cost?

Imagine what else you could buy with that money. Several premium laptops, an iPhone 13 or 14, or even a nice vacation at a luxury resort—if you're not spending it on a cat’s grooming session. But Wasim Akram seemed unfazed by the expense, joking that with that much cash, he could have sent 200 cats in Pakistan to the salon instead. Clearly, when you’ve played cricket at the highest level for decades, a hefty bill for a cat's pampering session is just another quirky chapter in the life of a global sports icon.
