By MyKhel Staff

Kieron Pollard showcased his batting prowess against Rashid Khan at The Hundred 2024 on Saturday (August 10).

Pollard smashed five consecutive sixes to the Afghan spin sensation, thus helping his team Southern Brave to win a crucial match at the competition.

Chasing 127 runs, the Braves were in deep trouble at 78 for 6. They needed 49 off 24 balls to win the match. Pollard had been struggling initially but found his rhythm just in time. His first six soared over cow corner, followed by four more massive hits, including one over long off. This stunning performance not only dented Rashid's bowling figures but also secured the Brave's fifth win in the tournament.

Pollard's incredible display earned him the Player of the Match award. His power-hitting was a game-changer and left fans in awe. The West Indies veteran completely decimated one of the best T20 bowlers of the world and changed the match in his team's favour.

"I just backed my strengths which is to hit straight and he bowled three full balls in my arc. I had to calculate and pick my bowler, had a better chance going into the small side against Rashid and luckily it came off," Pollard said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The Brave now look forward to their next match with renewed confidence. They hope to continue their winning streak and secure a spot in the finals. With the victory, they have now moved into the 2nd position in the points table with 10 points in seven matches.

Rashid Khan, despite being on the receiving end of Pollard's onslaught, acknowledged the brilliance of his opponent.

"Sometimes you just have to applaud such batting," Rashid remarked.

Pollard has been a monster in the shorter formats of the game and it was at full display. The 37-year-old has represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL but took retirement from the tournament as a player and now acts as a coach of the Paltans. With this kind of batting displays, Pollard won't have any shortage of takers if he decides to take part in the IPL 2025 auction.
