Sameer Rizvi, the Rs 8:40 crore Chennai Super Kings (CSK) buy who made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday, has won hearts for his respectful gesture towards Virat Kohli.

CSK registered a comfortable six-wicket win in the IPL 2024 opener as the 20-year-old uncapped batter from Uttar Pradesh did not get an opportunity to bat. However, a video of him showing his heart-warming gesture towards Virat Kohli is winning hearts.

Rizvi stood behind former CSK captain MS Dhoni as the players from the two teams lined up for the customary handshake after the match. While the entire focus was on the Dhoni-Kohli handshake moment, the Meerut-born cricketer stole the show by taking off his cap just before coming face-to-face with the legendary batter.

Sameer Rizvi took his cap out of respect for Virat Kohli before sharing a gentle handshake with the modern day great. Here's the video which has gone viral on social media.

Sameer Rizvi also visited the RCB dressing room to get a picture clicked with Virat Kohli. "Forever legend," he captioned the picture with former India and RCB captain.

The Uttar Pradesh batter is also a fan of MS Dhoni. He had expressed his excitement about playing alongside Dhoni after being picked by the five-time champions in the IPL 2024 auction.

"I was approached by all ten franchises for trials but I was busy with U23. I could only attend camps of three ipl teams. I am excited to share the dressing room with MS Dhoni, he's my idol," Sameer Rizvi had told JioCinema.

"I have never seen MS Dhoni in flesh and bone, it will be a dream come true moment for me," he had added.

The supremely talented Samir Rizvi hit as many as 20 sixes for Kanpur Superstars in the UP T20 League 2023. The right-hander batter also smashed two cracking hundreds and finished with 455 runs in nine innings in the tournament.
