India pacer Mohammed Siraj received a hero's welcome in Hyderabad after the Indian cricket team's triumphant return from the T20 World Cup 2024.

As he stepped into his hometown, Siraj expressed his elation, stating, "We had to wait 11 years for this moment so I am really happy." This victory in Barbados, where India defeated South Africa by 7 runs, marked India's first ICC trophy win since their triumph in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni.

Siraj, along with his teammates, had earlier arrived in New Delhi from Barbados on Thursday. The team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated them on their remarkable achievement. Following their visit to the national capital, the team proceeded to Mumbai, where they were celebrated with an open-top bus parade starting from Marine Drive.

Mumbai's streets were alive with the jubilation of thousands of fans, who danced and sang in celebration of India's T20 World Cup victory. The players, led by captain Rohit Sharma, proudly displayed the trophy, sharing moments of joy and gratitude with their supporters.

The enthusiasm of the fans was palpable, with some even climbing trees to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes as the bus made its way through the city.

The parade culminated at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, where the players were greeted by an electrifying atmosphere. The Indian cricket team, in a show of unity and celebration, danced to the rhythmic beats of 'dhol' drums, much to the delight of the assembled fans. It was a memorable scene, capturing the essence of India's cricketing passion.

Adding to the celebrations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honored the team with a cheque of Rs 125 crores for their World Cup triumph. The generosity continued as the players handed out cricket balls to the fans in attendance, who eagerly sought selfies and autographs from their idols.

Siraj's homecoming in Hyderabad was a reflection of the nationwide euphoria that followed India's historic win. His return was marked by cheers, applause, and an overwhelming display of affection from his fellow Hyderabadis, encapsulating the joy that cricket brings to the hearts of millions across the country.
