Former India captain MS Dhoni celebrated his birthday on Friday (July 7), far away from the blitz of media, spending valuable time with his family.

Dhoni turned 42 on Friday and there were messages ushered with well wishes across the globe for the superstar. Dhoni, who generally loves to spend time in solitude, spent it as usual with his family members.

A video was released capturing Dhoni celebrating his birthday by cutting a cake. The 42-year-old was at his Ranchi farmhouse and was surrounded by his dogs, his much-adored companions.

As many as four dogs were seen surrounding Dhoni who cut the cake and fed the slices to his dogs.

The video has gone viral and fans have hailed the Chennai Super Kings captain for his humble and noble touch.

"Man can win another trophy with these 4 dogs in his team," one fan wrote.

Another fan hailed Dhoni for not spending his birthday in a modest way, far away from the spotlight saying, "This is him. No outside noise. Just peace with himself."

Dhoni has a massive affection for his pet dogs. The bond they share is special and the former India captain was once seen training his dogs at his Ranchi residence. The name of the husky is LILY whereas the Dutch Shepherd is named ZOYA.

Dhoni is in the 5th decade of his life, but the effervescent player looks set to take the field yet again come next March in the IPL. The Chennai Super Kings captain led his team to their 5th IPL title this season amid strong retirement speculations.

The player revealed he will be pushing to play for "at least another season" as a gift to the fans and recently underwent knee surgery to prolong his stay behind the wicket. It looks likely he will be back wearing the coveted CSK yellow next year.
