Bengaluru, April 14: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma pulled off one of the best catches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 during their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) here today (April 14).
Rohit's left-handed sensational catch became the talking point of the match as the skipper's effort sent back the dangerous AB de Villiers for 19 off 21.
De Villiers was reprieved earlier on 7 when England's Jos Buttler put down a skier off left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya. However, Krunal got his man, overall for the 3rd time, thanks to Rohit's outstanding catch.
On the 2nd ball of the 17th over, De Villiers attempted to go over cover but Rohit was quick to spot the shot and dived parallel to the ground going with both hands to take the catch but finally completed with only his left hand.
After RCB's innings, Krunal said he was lucky to dismiss a "legend" like De Villiers on 3 occasions.
Today's match also marked the return of RCB captain Virat Kohli. He made a memorable comeback, scoring 62. But rest of the batsmen failed to make it big on a sluggish pitch at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB were restricted to 142/5 in 20 overs.
