Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli expressed visible disappointment after his team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, faced a significant defeat against the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 in front of home fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (April 3).
A disappointed Kohli was captured on a fan video punching his chair as RCB slipped to ninth position on the table with three losses in four games. Kohli, who currently holds the orange cap and is the first batter to score 200 runs in IPL 2024, has struggled to take RCB past the finish line on his own.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis attributed the defeat to dropped catches of De Kock and Pooran, acknowledging that such errors can prove costly in the IPL. He also emphasised the need for improved bowling, especially in the powerplay, and stressed the importance of strong partnerships in batting to secure victories.
RCB got the toss decision wrong on the day as they sent Lucknow Super Giants to bat first. RCB bowling was put to the test as Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran showcased exemplary batting performances to set a formidable target of 181 runs.
De Kock's impressive 81 off 56 balls, adorned with eight boundaries and five sixes, coupled with Pooran's quickfire 40 off 21 deliveries, paved the way for Lucknow Super Giants' imposing total. Despite a strong start by Kohli and Faf du Plessis, who initiated a 40-run partnership in the first five overs, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a batting collapse after their dismissals, falling short by 28 runs.
