WBBL 10: Harmanpreet Kaur Among 3 Indians First Nominees Revealed For Women's Big Bash League Draft 2024

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was among the three players from the country to declare their nominations for the upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) draft, which is scheduled to be held on September 1, 2024.

Harmanpreet will be joined by compatriots Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues as well as South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt and England's Sophie Ecclestone in the the first batch of nominees revealed for the upcoming Big Bash League overseas drafts.

Apart from Ecclestone, the no. 1 ranked bowler in ODIs and T20Is, England captain Heather Knight as well as Danni Wyatt and Alice Capsey have also been nominated. However, England players will not be available for the entire tournament due to a tour of South Africa from late November.

There will be similar concern regarding Wolvaardt's availability, but her compatriot Shabnim Ismail will be available for the entire tournament following her retirement from international cricket last year.

New Zealand's Suzie Bates, who is also eligible for retention alongside seven other players in the list, is also among the first batch of nominees revealed for the WBBL draft 2024. Here is a look at the first draft nominees for WBBL 10:

As mentioned earlier, Bates will among several players who can be retained by teams during the draft process. South Africa's Wolvaardt and Ismail, India's Harmanpreet, England trio Knight, Ecclestone and Wyatt are the other players eligible for retentions by the teams they represented last season. Players in the draft are categorized into Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze tiers, with clubs required to select at least two players from these categories. Those with pre-draft agreements will be allocated picks based on their salary bands. The WBBL season will run from October 27 to December 1.
