WCL 2025: Amid the escalating public discourse around the now-cancelled India vs Pakistan match at the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, travel-tech company EaseMyTrip has taken a definitive stand.
The platform, which had previously signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the WCL, has publicly distanced itself from any fixtures involving the Pakistan team following the cross-border tensions in May.

In an official statement released on Sunday through its X (formerly Twitter) account, EaseMyTrip clarified its position, stating, "Despite entering into a 5-year sponsorship agreement with the World Championship of Legends (WCL) two years ago, our stance has always been clear--EaseMyTrip will not be associated with or participate in any WCL match involving Pakistan. We proudly continue to support the India Champions and stand firmly by our team. However, as a matter of principle, we do not support or promote any match that includes Pakistan. This position was communicated unambiguously to the WCL team from the beginning. EaseMyTrip supports Team India, but will not engage in any match featuring Pakistan. Let's bring the cup home. Bharat First. Always."
The announcement comes in the wake of the WCL organisers' decision to officially cancel the India-Pakistan match, originally scheduled for July 20 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. In a late-night statement, the league expressed regret for the emotional distress the fixture may have caused.
The match, they explained, was proposed in the spirit of creating joyful memories after observing recent India-Pakistan sporting encounters like volleyball and hockey. However, the decision reportedly evoked discomfort among Indian players and fans alike.
"The idea was to spread happiness through the sport we all love. But maybe in the process, we ended up hurting the feelings of many and stirring emotions," said WCL in their statement.
Several Indian cricketers, including Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, had earlier opted out of the match. Dhawan, in a post on X, also shared an email dated May 11, which he had sent to WCL organisers, citing current geopolitical tensions as the reason for his withdrawal.
WCL 2025 continues as scheduled from July 18 to August 2, featuring legendary players across venues in Birmingham, Leicester, Leeds, and Northampton.
