Most Runs In WCL 2025: India Champions suffered a crushing 88-run defeat (DLS method) at the hands of South Africa Champions in their opening fixture of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025.
It was a vintage performance from AB de Villiers, who lit up the contest with a blazing 63 off just 30 deliveries and followed it up with a brilliant effort in the field, guiding his team to a commanding win.

After being put in to bat by India captain Yuvraj Singh, the South African outfit put up a mammoth 208 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Yuvraj, unfortunately, sustained a niggle while fielding and was unable to bat during the run chase, adding to India's woes.
Despite fielding a side packed with experienced names like Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, and Yusuf Pathan, the Indian batting unit failed to deliver under pressure. They collapsed to 111 for 9 before play was halted due to a floodlight malfunction/rain potential, leading to the match being decided by the DLS method - firmly in favour of South Africa.
This emphatic win was South Africa Champions' second straight triumph in the tournament, cementing their place among the early frontrunners on the points table.
