India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 was marked by a collective team effort, with Suryakumar Yadav emphasizing the unity and determination that defined their performance.
Reflecting on the thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final held in Bridgetown, Barbados, Suryakumar said, "We fielded like a pack of wolves, as Rahul bhai and Rohit keep saying... Everybody knew their roles but together we hunted every opportunity which came our way leaving no stone unturned.

"It was God's plan," Suryakumar added on Monday, recalling his spectacular match-defining catch that has been widely praised for its exceptional display of athleticism, balance, and game awareness.
In a telephonic conversation with PTI, Suryakumar modestly discussed his role in India's title victory. Rohit Sharma's team triumphed over a formidable South African side by seven runs in the final held in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday.
"I am just grateful to be in that moment to do something special for the country...god's plan it was," Suryakumar said about the catch that has become a standout moment from the game.
South Africa required 16 runs from the final over, with the powerful David Miller at the crease. Miller hit a wide full toss from Hardik Pandya, but Suryakumar, positioned at the boundary, caught the ball, released it just as he crossed the boundary ropes, and then returned to complete an astonishing catch. This moment evoked memories of Kapil Dev's iconic catch in the 1983 World Cup final, where he brilliantly dismissed Viv Richards.
Suryakumar's heroics ensured that his name would be remembered fondly by Indian cricket fans. Before this, South Africa needed 30 runs from as many balls, but their chase faltered. Hardik Pandya triggered a collapse by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen, who was well-set on 52. The Proteas lost four wickets for 17 runs, ultimately falling short at 169/8 in pursuit of 177.
