West Indies registered a 3-0 clean sweep over South Africa with an eight wicket win in the third T20I at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Wednesday, August 28. The match was reduced to 13-over per side affair due to rain.
South Africa scored 108/4 after being invited to bat first. They endured a really slow start and were 66/3 in 9.4 overs, before Tristan Stubbs again came to their rescue with 40 off 15. The 24-year-old smashed five fours and three sixes. West Indies pacer Romario Shepherd picked two wickets for 14 runs in two overs.

In reply, West Indies lost the wicket of their opener Alick Athanaze early in the first over, but his opening partner Shai Hope, and Nicholas Pooran played another blazing knock. Hope scored unbeaten 42 runs off 24 balls, while Pooran smashed 13-ball 35. Shimron Hetmyer also got an opportunity for the first time in the series, and the southpaw scored unbeaten 31 off 17.
West Indies rested captain Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, and Shamar Joseph in the match, but still ended up winning the match by eight wickets, and 20 balls remaining in the 13-over per-side match. Roston Chase led the West Indies in the match.
Shai Hope was adjudged Man of the series for scoring 134 runs in the series at a strike rate of 163.41. Romario Shepherd clinched the Man of the Series award.
Several South Africa players were rested for the series, but regardless the 3-0 win over the T20 World Cup 2024 finalists is expected to give West Indies a lot of boost. Notably, it was the defeat against South Africa which had ended West Indies' semi-final hopes in the 20 World Cup 2024.
