Western Railway enters All India Railway cricket final

Patna, May 5 (UNI) Western Railway, Mumbai, today sailed into the final of 52nd All India Railway Cricket Tournament defeating Central Railway(Mumbai) by five wickets in the first Semi-finals here.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss yesterday, Central Railway could pile up a moderate score of 197 runs in 55.1 overs, which the winners overhauled (198 runs) today by loosing just five wickets in 63.5 overs.

In the other two day semi-finals, beginning at the same Mainul Haque Stadium tomorrow, Eastern Railway (Kolkata) will take on South-Eastern Railway (Kolkata) and winners of the match will meet Western Railway in the final.

Among the Western Railway batsmen, who engineered a smooth victory for the team, were Nikhil Patwardhan and B Songaonkar both of whom remained unbeaten till last scoring 39 runs and 30 runs respectively.

Yesterday Nitin Sube played the role of a sheet anchor and scored a respectable 32 runs before being foxed by an Omkar Salvi delivery in the 27th over.

Among the successful Central Railway bowlers was Omkar Salvi who captured two wickets, while Aushad Chunabala, Salil Agarkar and Mujabir Khote shared one scalp each.
