What Happened to Varun Chakravarthy? BCCI Reveals Injury Ahead of India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I
India have suffered a fresh injury setback ahead of the second T20I against Afghanistan, with spinner Varun Chakravarthy ruled out of the remaining two matches.
Chakravarthy had only recently returned from a hamstring injury and impressed in the series opener, taking 1/16 in four overs as India secured a seven-wicket victory.

BCCI Reveals Varun Chakravarthy injury
Providing clarity on the injury, the BCCI said Chakravarthy experienced discomfort while bowling his third over of the opening T20I.
“Varun Chakaravarthy experienced sudden-onset discomfort in his left lateral abdominal region while bowling his third over in the first T20I. Scans have revealed a side strain, and he has subsequently been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is,” the BCCI said.
The side strain is particularly unfortunate given Chakravarthy had just completed rehabilitation following a hamstring injury sustained during India's England tour. He had spent nearly two months at the BCCI Centre of Excellence before being cleared to return.
Ravi Bishnoi Replaces Varun in Playing XI
India have turned to Ravi Bishnoi for the second T20I in Delhi. Bishnoi replaced Chakravarthy in the playing XI as India made one change for the match.
Bishnoi provides India with a different leg-spin option, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar offer further spin alternatives. With Chakravarthy's availability for the Asian Games also reportedly under a cloud, his latest injury will be closely monitored by the Indian team management.
